Ministry of Health authorized to combine mRNA vaccines

If the first vaccination is given with Moderna vaccine, the second can be given with Comirnaty / Pfizer-BioNTech and vice versa.

Ukrainians were allowed to combine Moderna and Comirnaty / Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. This was announced on Friday, September 17, by the press service of the Ministry of Health in Telegram.

“In the case when the first vaccination is carried out with the Moderna vaccine, the second can be done with Comirnaty / Pfizer-BioNTech and vice versa,” the message says.

The Ministry of Health noted that if the mRNA vaccine from the same manufacturer is not available, a vaccine on the mRNA platform of another manufacturer can be used for the second vaccination. At the same time, the department notes that the combination of Moderna and Comirnaty / Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines is safe and effective.

The interval between the first and second doses should be 28 days.

Recall that in Ukraine over the past day, another 122,906 people were vaccinated against coronavirus. Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign 6,169,886 people have been vaccinated.

Earlier, the media learned about the “buns” for the vaccinated in Ukraine. The government will approve new quarantine rules in the coming days, which will take effect next week.
