In the Sumy region stolen “kovid” money
The money was intended to build a department for receiving patients with coronavirus and repair three outpatient clinics.
On the construction of a department for the reception of COVID-patients and the repair of three outpatient clinics in the Sumy region, UAH 2.7 million were stolen. About it informs SBU on Monday, October 4.
As established by law enforcement officers, the Poltava commercial structure, which won the tender in October 2020, systematically entered false information into the accounting documents about the allegedly purchased building materials. Moreover, most of the work was done only “on paper”. The cybercriminals appropriated the “saved” money.
The tax authorities and the State Audit Office have calculated that UAH 2.7 million were illegally appropriated from the COVID-19 Pandemic Fund.
Now criminal proceedings have been opened under the article on misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of office. The pre-trial investigation continues to identify all the people involved and to return the misappropriated state funds to the budget.
Earlier, the CAP auditor said that Ukrainian corruption has no analogues in the EU. A successful fight against corruption and the rule of law are essential for achieving results in any other policy area, the auditor emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry later responded to the EU auditor’s report on corruption. The auditor allowed himself a few value judgments about the fight against corruption in Ukraine, according to the Foreign Ministry.
