A person with a huge heart always known for helping others
story of a great man
O website Almanaque do Samba made a profile of the history of the samba musician. Juarez Araújo started singing in the countryside of Minas, in Curvelo. In 1956, he moved to Belo Horizonte, where he sang in several freshman shows: on the extinct Rádio Guarani, animated by Antônio Augusto; Radio Inconfidência; Radio Pampulha, presented by Caxangá and its people; and from Rádio Jornal de Minas, presented by Jadir Ambrósio.
In 1990, he participated in the assembly of the group Os vocalistas Super Astral. In 1999, he was invited by the composer Silvio Luciano to participate in the Velha Guarda do Samba in Belo Horizonte and became president of the association.
He also served as a counselor at the Municipal Health Council of Belo Horizonte, in the Northeast region. “Mr. Juarez fought daily for social control and actively participated in health and community struggles. We are sorry for your departure and send our sincere condolences to relatives and friends,” wrote the Council.
The Old Guard also said goodbye, on its page. “A person with a huge heart, always known for helping others, leaves today on a road full of light, as he was a great man in his life. Thank you Mr. Juarez”, said goodbye to the association. “As he himself sang ‘Sambista, your past glory will be forever in your memory’”.
