The Ministry of Health of Russia urged to return to work of physicians who retired at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic

Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko proposed get vaccinated and return to work for doctors and healthcare workers who went into isolation or retired at the start of the coronavirus epidemic.

“Since the isolation measures were announced, many older people have retired. Today there is already a vaccine, we appeal to the health workers who have retired from medical practice, we propose to return,” he said.

In July 2021 the SuperJob service pointed out on the high demand for medical workers against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence of coronavirus. So, in June, the annual increase in the number of vacancies for senior medical personnel was 48.2%, for middle and junior medical personnel – 116.2%.

The presence of a shortage of medical personnel in a conversation with journalists confirmed Anatoly Domnikov, chairman of the Russian Health Workers’ Union. He stated that he supports the initiative of the Ministry of Health and believes that it is necessary to look for various solutions to this problem.

In Russia, over the past day, 31,299 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected per day, 986 people died. This is the maximum for the entire time of the pandemic. The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic in Russia has reached 7 892 980, 220 315 people have died. Independent demographers, based on Rosstat statistics, believe that this estimate is at least three times underestimated and the total number of deaths may exceed 660 thousand.

In connection with the increase in morbidity in a number of regions of Russia, restrictions are again introduced. So, in Chechnya, since October 11, QR codes, vaccination certificates or certificates of coronavirus transferred over the past six months have begun to be required to visit organizations and public places. Similar requirements were introduced in Tatarstan, Chuvashia, Udmurtia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Perm Territory, as well as in Arkhangelsk, Samara, Kursk (partially), Vologda, Sverdlovsk, Ulyanovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kaliningrad and Voronezh regions.
