The MPs voted to amend the law on the state budget, allocating 1.4 billion lei ($ 75 million) to pay off the debt to Gazprom.

In Moldova on Thursday, November 25, the parliament allocated $ 75 million to pay off the current debt to Gazprom. It is reported by Interfax.

It is noted that the deputies voted for amendments to the law on the state budget, allocating 1.4 billion lei ($ 75 million) for this purpose.

“This amount of 1.4 billion lei will be transferred to increase the social capital of the state-owned company Energocom. After receiving the money, Energocom will buy back from Moldovagaz part of Termoelectrica’s debt (to Moldovagaz) for the same amount. Energocom will pay the debt, and Moldovagaz will pay for gas supplies. will allow both to reduce Termoelectrica’s debts to Moldovagaz, and to solve the problem with current payments for the supplied gas “, – noted the Minister of Finance of Moldova Dmitry Budyansky.

The day before, an official representative of Gazprom said that Gazprom, as an exception, agreed to the request of the Moldovan government not to stop gas supplies on November 24, but to provide a delay until Friday, November 26.
