State Department and EU discussed punishment for Russia in case of aggression against Ukraine
Blinken and Michel reaffirmed the support of the United States and the European Union for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The United States and the European Union intend to punish the Russian Federation in the event of its aggression against Ukraine. This agreement was reached by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and President of the European Council Charles Michel. This on Wednesday, December 8, is discussed in a statement US Department of State.
In particular, the document says that the US State Department and the European Union intend to “quickly and severely punish Russia in the event of an escalation of its aggression on the territory of Ukraine.”
The report stresses that the two leaders shared concerns about Russia’s military build-up on Ukraine’s borders. And they declared the need to de-escalate the conflict on the part of the Russian Federation and return to diplomacy.
The parties also emphasized the need for full implementation of the Minsk agreements, “which are the best way to resolve the conflict in Donbass.”
