Unknown persons spoil the facade of the building of the foreign mission of Belarus
The attackers tried to escape, but some of them were detained by the London diplomatic police.
On Sunday evening, December 19, an attack was made on the Belarusian embassy in London. Diplomats were beaten informs Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus on Monday, December 20.
“First, a group of people damaged the facade of the building of the foreign establishment, and then the Belarusian diplomats who arrived at the scene were physically attacked. One of them was seriously injured and needed urgent medical attention,” the statement says.
The injured employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was diagnosed with “a broken nose, a mild concussion and a traumatic fracture of a tooth.”
It is noted that the attackers tried to escape, but some of them were detained by the London diplomatic police.
“It has been established that the persons are presumably included in Nadzey’s radical emigrant group,” the Foreign Ministry noted.
The Charge d’Affaires of Great Britain was summoned to the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, to whom a strong protest was lodged with the demand to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.
Earlier on Monday, it became known that the Belarusian authorities had made a decision to significantly reduce the number of diplomats in European countries. At the same time, the number of embassies and other foreign missions will remain the same.
