Niterói City Hall canceled the samba school parade that would take place in the city center during Carnival. According to the statement, released this Thursday afternoon (13) by the municipality, the decision was made following the guidelines of the Municipal Health Department and the scientific committee.
On social media, Mayor Axel Grael (PDT) reported that a new date will be set after the Lent period. In the city, performances of street blocks, neighborhood carnivals and dances in clubs will also not be allowed.

According to the city hall, last Tuesday (11), Niterói carried out 4,503 tests for covid-19. Among those tested, 40.19% had a positive diagnosis for the disease, which is considered a very high number by health authorities. The bed occupancy rate is 13.5%.
