You need to limit yourself in using applications – Shchigol.

So far, military personnel are advised to use the Threema messenger of the Swiss army, which meets EU data storage standards.

Programmers from the State Service for Special Communications, on their own initiative, developed a secure messenger for the Ukrainian military Rozmov. This was stated by the head of the department Yuri Shchigol, writes Forbes.

First, the messenger will be tested for the level of security, and then they will decide whether to provide it for military personnel.

“We cannot talk about the security of any applications, because the processing of information means that it is stored somewhere for a certain time. If you are a carrier of state secrets and you have certain knowledge and skills, you need to limit yourself in using applications,” Shchigol said.

Now the military is recommended to use the Threema messenger of the Swiss army, which meets EU data storage standards.

Back in 2018, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine called on military personnel to abandon messengers in the combat zone.

“Messengers like Telegram and Viber have servers in Russia, while WhatsApp and Skype have servers in the United States. If you open the messenger and work in it, then it contains all the information about you,” – explained Vladimir Rapko, then the head of the signal troops.

Meanwhile, the Swiss military was banned from using the Telegram, WhatsApp and Signal messengers, allowing the use of only the Swiss program Threema.

The United States banned the sale of Chinese smartphones on military bases. Devices from two Chinese manufacturers may pose a risk to employees, data and the work of the Department of Defense.
