Ukraine introduces a temporary visa-free regime for foreigners wishing to join the International Defense Legion. A special decree was signed on February 28 by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
A visa-free regime for volunteers will be introduced from March 1, 2022 for the period of martial law “for citizens of foreign states wishing to join the International Defense Legion of Ukraine, except for citizens of a state recognized as an aggressor state.”

On February 27, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the formation new division – the international legion of territorial defense of Ukraine, which will be staffed by foreigners who, together with the Ukrainians, are ready to repulse the Russian invaders.
Later in the National Security Council of Ukraine reportedthat Ukrainians from the French Foreign Legion will be able to go to defend their homeland, while they are left with full equipment.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar February 28 wrote on Facebook that “several thousand applications have already been received from foreign citizens who want to join the resistance to the Russian occupiers and the protection of world security from the Putin regime”
