Last Tuesday (8), the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Uerj) announced the decision to maintain the mandatory use of masks in the institution’s units, even after the City Hall of the city of Rio de Janeiro abolished the mandatory use of masks. last Monday (7).
In addition to Uerj, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) also released a technical note maintaining the mandatory use of protection on its premises.
Another institution of higher education, which is private, the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-Rio) also chose to maintain a recommendation to wear a mask on campus, even after the decree.

Uerj’s decision goes against the guidelines of the State Department of Health. The folder stated that the state bodies present in the municipality of Rio would follow the decree on the masks of the prefecture.
Uerj, however, informed in a note sent to the press that the decision is supported by the recommendation of the Commission for Assessment, Planning and Implementation of Necessary Actions for the On-site Return within the university.
The measure is extended to the Fernando Rodrigues da Silveira Application Institute (CAP/Uerj), as according to the administration, vaccination in children is progressing slowly in several municipalities.
