Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba
There are countries that are trying to “jump off” this story, in particular – Germany. Ukrainian diplomats work with these countries.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that there are still countries that are trying to “jump off” from the history of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. In particular, this is Germany. Kuleba said this in an interview UP.
“Now the next step is that we are working out one document through the European Commission, it is called a questionnaire, we answer all the questions, on the basis of which they make recommendations to the European Council. And after that, the European Council makes an official decision,” Kuleba said.
The Minister specified that this stage could take a little more than two weeks.
“We will not have time to blink an eye before we reach this level. But then there will be a moment of truth. This is when the European Council, namely the leaders of all European countries, must already make a final decision on opening accession negotiations. And I will say frankly, there are still countries that will try to get off this story. Among them is Germany, let’s call a spade a spade, this is not a secret for anyone,” Kuleba said, adding that Ukrainian diplomacy is now extremely concentrated in working with these countries.
Recall that Zelensky signed an application for joining the EU on the fifth day after the start of the Russian invasion. He asked the bloc to allow Ukraine to immediately acquire membership in accordance with a special procedure. On the same day, the EU officially started the procedure for considering Ukraine’s application.
