Ukrainian figure skaters will not perform in the free dance.
The 2022 World Figure Skating Championships continue in Montpellier, France.
Ukrainian figure skaters Alexandra Nazarova and Maxim Nikitin, who perform in ice dancing, showed the 16th result in rhythm dance and qualified for the final competitions.
However, the skaters will not take to the ice and perform their free dance. On the official website of the tournament online results system opposite the Ukrainian couple is the inscription “WD”, which means “removed”.
The official reason given is “personal circumstances”. It is noteworthy that this is the second Ukrainian pair that refuses to participate further – earlier Sofia Golichenko and Artem Darensky withdrew from the pair skating competition after the short program.
But the Ukrainian Ivan Shmuratko, speaking in men’s single skating, will still perform with his free program.
Recall that Nazarova and Nikitin skated rhythm dance in training uniform. Moreover, they were in Kharkov at the time of the outbreak of hostilities – Alexandra managed to leave the city, and Maxim was under shelling for almost three weeks.
