Ukraine has suggested that, as an alternative to NATO membership, individual countries could provide it with security guarantees.
Germany is in confidential talks with Kiev about possible security guarantees it could offer Ukraine in connection with the Russian invasion. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, reports Reuters.
“We are negotiating guarantees with Ukraine. These negotiations are confidential,” he said.
Recall that Ukraine proposed that, as an alternative to NATO membership, individual countries, such as Germany, Turkey or China, could provide it with security guarantees.
Earlier it was reported that EU member states could discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, but now the priority issue is a ceasefire.
