Refugees in EU countries want to be allowed to change up to 10 thousand UAH at the rate of the National Bank
States are invited to create appropriate national schemes, which can exchange up to 10,000 hryvnia (approximately 310 euros) per person.
Ukrainian refugees will be able to change up to 10,000 hryvnias in cash in EU countries at the rate of the National Bank. The recommendation can be signed approximately April 19, informs press office of the EU Council.
Due to the war, the National Bank of Ukraine suspended the exchange of hryvnia banknotes for foreign currency, so the exchange of hryvnia for local currency in the EU countries is one of the important problems of Ukrainian refugees in Europe. This problem concerns the majority of refugees outside Ukraine.
It is noted that the EU Council Committee agreed to give Ukrainian refugees equal opportunities to exchange hryvnia cash in Europe for local currency. States are invited to create appropriate national schemes, which can exchange up to 10,000 hryvnia (approximately 310 euros) per person. Such an exchange will be valid for at least three months.
But the report also notes that the recommendations are not binding acts – decisions will be made by member states in accordance with their position.
Recall that the operators of Ukraine and the EU signed a joint declaration on coordinated efforts to ensure and stabilize affordable or free roaming and international calls between the EU and Ukraine.
