In the area of the village of Staraya Nelidovka, Belgorod region (located about 20 kilometers from Belgorod and 45 kilometers from the border with Ukraine), according to preliminary data, an ammunition depot caught fire. About it informed Governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov in his telegram channel, specifying that he received information about this from the head of the Golovinsky rural settlement Denis Zolotukhin.
In conditions of war, Present Tense cannot quickly confirm or refute the statements of even officials.
Gladkov said on his Telegram channel that at 3:30 in the morning he woke up from a loud sound like an explosion, and when he started writing a post about it, three more explosions sounded. According to him, there are no destructions of residential buildings and victims among the civilian population. The fire has been extinguished. Local media published a video with a flash in the sky.
The governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, said that on the night of April 27, an air defense system worked in the region. According to him, there are no casualties and no damage, he promised to give details later.
In addition, two explosions occurred near the Shilovo microdistrict in Voronezh, informs TASS with reference to representatives of local rescue services. In social networks spread videos showing objects exploding in the sky, members of local groups suggest that this could also be air defense work and that planes may have taken to the skies.
The Shilovo microdistrict is located near the Baltimore military airfield, not far from Voronezh. It is about 300 kilometers to the border with Ukraine from there. Governor of the Voronezh Region Alexander Gusev informed earlier that an air defense system shot down a drone near Voronezh on Wednesday morning.
“This morning, in the sky near Voronezh, the air defense system detected and successfully destroyed a small-sized reconnaissance UAV. I keep the situation under personal control. Nothing threatens the life and health of the inhabitants of the region,” the message says.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the authorities of the Russian border regions have repeatedly reported shelling, which, according to them, was carried out from the Ukrainian side. Since April 11, a “yellow” (high) level of terrorist threat has been in effect in the Belgorod region. Similar measures have been announced in the Bryansk and Kursk regions, as well as in two districts of the Voronezh region.
On April 1, a fire broke out at the Rosneft plant in Belgorod. Gladkov then said that the object was hit by an airstrike from two helicopters that entered the city from the Ukrainian side. Kyiv said that it had nothing to do with what happened.
On April 25, another oil depot caught fire – in Bryansk.
