Responsible for titles for Mangueira in the Carioca Carnival, among them “História para ninar gente grande”, in which Verde e Rosa took to Marquês de Sapucaí “the story that history does not tell”, with characters such as councilor Marielle Franco, Carnival artist Leandro Vieira left the traditional green and pink school in Rio.
From the next carnival, Vieira will be in charge of the Imperatriz Leopoldinense carnival. Verde, Branco e Ouro ended another of its long-standing partnerships with the carnival artist Rosa Magalhães, who has been working in the special group of Rio’s carnival since 1974.
Gratitude on both sides
“I could write a lot. Chain thoughts together to speak an endless sea of beautiful things. Because I don’t have the right words, I prefer, at a time like this, to recover the strength of a word that summarizes, and gives the size of what I would like to say , without now being able to say so much: Thank you, Estação Primeira!”, said the carnival artist, on social networks.
The management of Mangueira also publicly thanked for the four years that Leandro was in front of its fashion shows and remembered the two titles won by him – the other was in 2016 with the theme “A Menina dos Olhos de Oyá”, about singer Maria Bethânia .
“We know that we tattoo our green and pink on your heart, just as you leave the mark of your work in the heart of the Mangueira nation. For us, there is no other word for the occasion: Thank you for everything, @leandrovieirarj (… ) the time has come for him to follow a different path than ours, and to say goodbye”, thanked the association.

The 38-year-old carnival artist graduated from the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where Rosa Magalhães was a professor of scenography and clothing. He already had a stint at Imperatriz in 2014, as a carnival assistant.
