The Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) announced the new mandatory reading lists for the selection processes from 2024 to 2026. The previous list was repeated for two years. Another novelty announced is the decrease from 10 to nine indications of works.
Among the new readings are “Olhos d’Água”, by Conceição Evaristo; “Selected Songs”, by Cartola; “Casa Velha”, by Machado de Assis, and “Alice in Wonderland”, by Lewis Carroll, for the 2024 entrance exam. As for the 2025 entrance exam, the nominations include “Life is not useful”, by Ailton Krenak; “Prose followed by minimal odes”, by José Paulo Paes; “Life and death of MJ Gonzaga de Sá”, by Lima Barreto and “Morangos mofados (chosen tales)”, by Caio Fernando Abreu.

“The list includes the diversity and representativeness that Vestibular Unicamp has brought in recent years. In addition, it places authors and authors who traditionally did not appear in entrance exams, such as Conceição Evaristo, Caio Fernando Abreu, Ailton Krenak, who are alongside classic authors such as Lima Barreto and Machado de Assis”, says the director. from Comvest, professor José Alves de Freitas Neto.

“By indicating a list of works, the intention is that students leave an attempt to memorize literary schools or summary characteristics, and have the necessary time so that they can enter the universe of literature”, says Neto.
