The occupiers have turned the city “into a medieval ghetto”, so a complete evacuation of the population is needed, said Vadim Boychenko.
By the end of the year, more than ten thousand people may die in Mariupol from diseases and unbearable conditions. About this May 11 informed mayor of the city Vadim Boychenko.
He specified that 150-170 thousand people are now in Mariupol.
“The occupiers have turned Mariupol into a medieval ghetto. So the mortality rate will be appropriate. Without medicines and medical care, restoration of water supply and proper sewerage, epidemics will break out in the city. Now most of the population is old and sick people. Without proper conditions, mortality among vulnerable categories will increase significantly “, – said Boychenko.
According to him, part of Mariupol residents from nearby villages returned to the city, because they are not allowed to enter the territory of free Ukraine due to a tough filtration system.
“But the Russians continue the genocide that they started on February 24. Our people are in mortal danger. Therefore, a complete evacuation of the city is needed,” the mayor said.
