Roskomnadzor blocked The Village website in Russia Belarus at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, should from the data of the human rights project “Roskomsvoboda”.
On May 15, the editors received a letter from Roskomnadzor demanding to remove article with an analysis of the official Russian version of the shelling of the station in Kramatorsk. The journalists refused to remove the material.
The Prosecutor General’s Office considered that the text contains “fakes” about “acts of terrorism” that pose a threat to “the life and health of citizens.”
The Village Belarus website has been blocked in the country itself since August 2020.
Kramatorsk is located in the north of the Donetsk region, it is a territory controlled by Ukraine. About a fifth of the city’s 250,000 residents remain, according to city officials.
On April 8, 57 people were killed as a result of a rocket attack on the Kramatorsk railway station. Russia denies involvement in the strike, blaming Ukraine for responsibility.
