Scholz confirmed the timing of the decision on the application of Ukraine in the EU
Ukraine a month ago filled out an application for EU membership, a decision on which will be made before July.
The European Commission will evaluate Ukraine’s request to join the European Union by the end of May, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Thursday, May 19, in the Bundestag.
“Ukraine has requested membership in the European Union. The Commission before the European Council, presumably at the end of June, will give its assessment of the request,” he said.
Scholz recalled the words of French President Emmanuel Macron that Ukraine’s accession to the EU could last several decades.
Recall that a month ago, Ukraine filled out a questionnaire required to move to the EU.
