North Korea deploys army to fight pandemic
The total number of victims of the pandemic in the DPRK has reached 65 people. More than 750 thousand are now on treatment.
Over the past 24 hours, more than 260,000 cases of COVID-19 coronavirus, which the country calls a “fever”, have been recorded in North Korea. About it informs The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Friday, May 20.
It is noted that two people died per day, and the total number of victims of the pandemic reached 65. At the same time, almost 250 thousand people recovered. In total, about 1.5 million citizens of the DPRK have overcome the infection. The total number of infected people has exceeded 2.2 million. More than 750 thousand are now on treatment.
On May 12, North Korea reported its first case of COVID-19. Prior to this, the country denied the circulation of the coronavirus, and also stated that there were no patients in the country.
And the very next day, more than 18,000 cases of coronavirus were recorded in North Korea. The first six people have died.
Official Pyongyang had to bring in the army to overcome the consequences of the pandemic.
