The cash rate, meanwhile, rose to 35-36 hryvnia per dollar
At the beginning of the war, the central bank fixed the dollar exchange rate at 29.25 hryvnia and is not going to change it yet.
The National Bank will not change the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the dollar fixed for the duration of the war. Deputy head of the NBU Yuriy Gelety told about this in an interview Forbes Ukraine.
After the start of the war, the NBU fixed the dollar exchange rate at the level of 29.25 hryvnias.
“For the time being, we keep everything as it is. The fixed exchange rate helps to contain the rate of price growth and meet the needs of the economy, which is slowly recovering. We will continue to monitor the situation on the market,” he said.
Because of this, the NBU does not consider the option of raising the level of the fixed exchange rate.
“We are not discussing this issue yet. We are working within the existing course,” he added.
Recall, from May 21, the NBU allowed banks not to limit their rates for the sale of cash currency, and also lifted restrictions on the rate at which banks write off hryvnia funds from cards for non-cash payments or withdraw funds from cards abroad.
