A survey carried out by the Union of Official Teaching Teachers of the State of São Paulo (Apeoesp) recorded 362 cases of covid-19 in 55 schools in the state between May 11 and 30.
The survey is based on information provided by representatives of the schools themselves. in a form in site from the union. Not all institutions that have confirmed cases make this record.
“The partial data demonstrates that this number can be infinitely higher, considering that the state network has 3,700 schools and that the survey depends on the information passed on by teachers to the sub-headquarters”, Apeoesp informed in a note.
Based on the data, the union reinforced the importance of using a face protection mask inside schools, in addition to monitoring school units, reporting cases and suspending classes in places where there are more alarming outbreaks.
“The right thing would be to demand entry to school with a mask. You have to be assertive. If the student doesn’t have one, the school, the government has to provide it”, said the president of Apeoesp and state deputy Professora Bebel (PT).
