In Tajikistan, ten protesters in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region have been put on the wanted list. About it reported on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.
The agency describes them as “participants in the commission of terrorist acts from May 16-18, 2022 in the Rushan district of GBAO.”
The wanted list includes residents of the Rushan district: Kulmamad Pallaev, Edgor Gulomaidarov, Alisher Pochoev, Khabib Mavlododov, Changibek Shekhburov, Dokhunda Pallaev, Mastonsho Chorshanbiev, Palla Pallaev, Shodavlat Orazi and Gofil Bakhtibekov. By data “Bomdod” put on the wanted list those who managed to escape after the protests and the “anti-terrorist operation.”
Formerly Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan published a list of 46 residents of the Rushansky district and called them members of “criminal and extremist-terrorist groups.” These “criminal groups” were allegedly led by Kholbash Kholbashev, Edgor Gulomkhaydarov and Kulmakhmad Pallayev. Relatives told Radio Liberty’s Tajik service that they were “ordinary Rushan residents who have respect among the population.”
The situation in Gorno-Badakhshan worsened on May 14 after courts sentenced activist Amriddin Alovatshoev to 18 years in prison and MMA fighter Chorshanbe Chorshanbiev to eight and a half years in prison. Local residents demanded the resignation of the head of the region Alisher Mirzonabot and the mayor of Khorog Rizo Nazarzoda, the removal of all checkpoints and an end to the persecution of Badakhshan residents. After the authorities refused to comply with these demands, a group of people took to the action on May 16, in response, the security forces used rubber bullets and tear gas, resulting in the death of one person.
On May 18, the authorities launched an “anti-terrorist operation” in GBAO. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reported clashes in the Rushan region between security forces and local residents, who blocked the road to Khorog. According to the Tajik service of Radio Liberty, on May 19, 21 bodies of the victims of the “counter-terrorist operation” were handed over to relatives. Later a source in the police department confirmed publishing this information. On May 22, the alleged organizer of a rally in GBAO Mamadbokir Mamadbokirov was killed in Tajikistan.
