Baltops exercise is one of the largest in Northern Europe
In total, 45 warships, 7,000 military personnel, 75 aircraft and helicopters will be involved in Baltops-2022.
Large-scale naval exercises of NATO member countries Baltops-2022 begin near the coast of Sweden. They will last from June 5 to June 12, informs Alliance press office.
The Baltops exercise is one of the largest in Northern Europe. This year they will start in Stockholm with a ceremony in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Swedish Navy. Then the military will conduct maneuvers in the waters of the Baltic Sea and the airspace of the region. The exercises will end in the area of the German city of Kiel.
The exercises in the air, on land and at sea will be attended by 14 NATO member countries, as well as Sweden and Finland, who have applied to join the Alliance. In total, 45 warships, 7,000 military personnel, 75 aircraft and helicopters will be involved in Baltops-2022.
Earlier it was reported that NATO air forces are conducting exercises in Poland and the Baltic countries. The maneuvers, called Ramstein Legacy 2022, involve military aircraft, as well as short-range air defense systems.
And in mid-May, the largest exercises of the Defense Forces Ezh-2022 began in Estonia. They were attended by about 15 thousand military personnel, including from 10 NATO partner countries.
