Even without the data from Tocantins and Mato Grasso do Sul, Brazil recorded 365 deaths from covid-19 this Thursday (23). It is the highest number for 24 hours since March 22, when 394 deaths were recorded. The increase was led by the state of São Paulo, which formalized the records of 177 deaths this Thursday. On Wednesday (22), the state had not released the death data.
With the records confirmed this Thursday, the official number of deaths from covid in the country reaches 669,895, according to data from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass). The moving average of deaths for the last 7 days is 150, up 25% from the previous day.
The number of registered Covid-19 cases also grew. There were 72,049 cases registered in the country. The 7-day moving average was 45,440, up 14% from the day before.
One of the most important measures to control the pandemic, vaccination against covid-19 has made little progress in the country. To increase vaccination coverage, the Ministry of Health released the second booster dose of the immunizer for people aged 40 or over.
According to the folder, about 8 million people in this age group and who received the third dose more than four months ago are able to carry out the booster in immunization. There are also 120 million people able to take the second dose or the booster dose of vaccines and who are less protected against the severe manifestations of the disease.
