Metinvest began distributing free armor plates to all soldiers

A constantly replenishing stock of ready-made armor plates has been formed at the enterprises of the group. Products are ready for prompt transfer to the defenders of Ukraine.

Metinvest Group is starting to provide plates for bulletproof vests to Ukrainian soldiers free of charge. To do this, it is enough to send an official request from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, territorial defense, the National Guard or authorized representatives of the authorities, informs Metinvest-SC on Tuesday, June 23.

“The plates are made from steel of our own production and subjected to heat treatment (hardening, hardening and tempering) in accordance with the current technological documentation. The physical and mechanical characteristics of the products provide the necessary level of ballistic resistance, which allows them to be used as rigid protective elements for manufactured body armor in accordance with DSTU 8782 :2018. The plates can also be used to improve the ball resistance of individual elements of vehicles and special equipment,” the statement said.

The text also states that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian army, Metinvest has been searching for the necessary steel for armor plates. For their products, the company’s experts have developed the chemical composition of steel, the technology of smelting, casting and pressure treatment of semi-finished products, as well as cutting and heat treatment of armor plates.

“At the moment, a constantly replenishing stock of finished armor plates has been formed at the enterprises of the group. The products are ready for prompt transfer to the defenders of Ukraine,” the text says.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Metinvest enterprises have produced more than 20,000 special plates for body armor for the Ukrainian military.
