Charles Michel expressed confidence that the leaders of the EU countries will grant Kyiv the official status of a candidate member of the bloc.
The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, is sure that the EU leaders will grant the status of a candidate for joining the bloc to Ukraine and Moldova. The politician stated this upon arrival at the summit in Brussels, reports European truth.
“This is a decisive moment for the European Union. This is a geopolitical choice that we will make today. I am confident that we will grant candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova, as well as a clear European perspective to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova,” Michel stressed.
At the same time, the EU noted that formal negotiations with candidates will begin after they fulfill the list of conditions specified in the EC conclusions regarding applications for membership.
