Turkish developer in Kyiv demanded $40,000 “reward”

The State Bureau of Investigation detained the head of a design organization in Kyiv, who demanded 40,000 US dollars from a representative of a Turkish construction company. About it informs press service of the GBR.
It is reported that a representative of the housing cooperative planned to get advice from a design organization for the construction of a multi-storey residential building, in which a company from Turkey planned to invest hundreds of millions of hryvnias.
“The head of the design organization immediately offered to use his friendly relations with the head of the department of architecture and urban planning for a separate “reward” to obtain permits for the construction of a residential building in the Buchansky district. And in case of refusal to pay for his “intermediary services”, the defendant threatened to use his communication and block the process of obtaining the documentation necessary for the construction,” the message says.
DBR has documented several tranches of receiving “fees” totaling $20,000. The extortionist was caught red-handed while receiving the second part of the bribe. The detainee faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
Earlier in Odessa, law enforcement officers detained a deputy of the regional council on suspicion of taking a bribe in the amount of 120,000 hryvnias.
