A court in Moscow replaced the municipal deputy and member of Pussy Riot Luce Stein with a real-term restriction of freedom in a general regime colony on a “sanitary case”. About it writes “OVD-Info” with reference to Stein herself.
By data “Interfax”, Stein, according to the court decision, must spend the rest of the sentence for a period of 31 days in a colony.
Lucy Shtein was found guilty in 2021 of inciting to violate sanitary restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic (part 4 of article 33, part 1 of article 236 of the Criminal Code). The reason for the case was the post of an associate of politician Alexei Navalny about a rally in support of the politician on January 23 last year. She was sentenced to a year of restriction of freedom.
In April 2022, she left Russia. “I was tired of the repressions against me and my loved ones, but I was ready to endure it, but on February 24 everything changed. After the start of the war, it became physically bad for me to be in Moscow, where there is a complete feeling that you are about to have a swastika on your forehead,” – stated then she. In mid-May, the Russian Interior Ministry put Stein on the wanted list.
Most experts consider “sanitary work” political. Ten people were involved in the case, mostly Navalny’s associates. At least half of them, including oppositionists Oleg Navalny, Lyubov Sobol, Maria Alyokhina, and Kira Yarmysh, had their liberty restrictions replaced with real terms. All of them left Russia.
