Died Novosibirsk scientist Dmitry Kolker, detained a few days ago by the FSB on suspicion of treason and sent to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. “We really received a telegram that dad had died. It’s not exactly written there. I haven’t been able to get any information either where he is, or in any hospital. My brother first posted on VK, but I asked to remove it. We need to make sure,” – stated scientist’s daughter.
Scientist Dmitry Kolker was detained on a case of treason in Novosibirsk, arrested and transferred to Moscow. Kolker had end-stage pancreatic cancer. According to relatives, he could not eat and move around on his own.
Dmitry Kolker was the head of the laboratory of quantum optical technologies at Novosibirsk State University. The FSB detained the scientist in the hospital. The investigation insists that Kolker does not need hospitalization. Relatives of the scientist published recent photographs of him, in which he looks much thinner compared to earlier shots.
Kolker’s son Maxim says his father was accused of passing state secrets to China. Kolker Sr. lectured there on laser physics in 2018. The FSB does not provide details about the case. Cases of treason and espionage are classified and are considered behind closed doors.
