On the day that the campaign for the presidential elections officially opens, two of the three candidates leading the race for the Palácio do Planalto, former president Lula (PT) and former minister Ciro Gomes (PDT), will be in the state of São Paulo. , the largest electoral college in the country.
The second place in the electoral polls, the current president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), will start the campaign, this Tuesday (16), in the city of Juiz de Fora, in Minas Gerais, where he was stabbed during the 2018 campaign.
The date is also marked by the presence of Lula, Bolsonaro, Ciro and Simone Tebet (MDB) in the inauguration of Minister Alexandre de Moraes in the presidency of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

The week that officially opens the electoral dispute is also marked by the dissemination of national opinion studies produced by the two most respected research companies in the country: Ipec (formerly Ibope) and Datafolha.
This Monday, IPEC showed leadership of Lula, who has 44% of voting intentions, against 32% of Bolsonaro. The PT beat the sum of his opponents (44% to 41%), which indicates a triumph in the first round. Datafolha publishes its results on Thursday (18).

Despite the official start of the campaign, the free and mandatory election time broadcast on radio and television is scheduled to start on August 26 and run through September 30. The first round of elections will take place on October 2nd and the second round on October 30th.
