The Soviet court of Ufa fined the leader of the DDT group, Yuri Shevchuk, 50,000 rubles because of the words “Motherland is not the president’s ass,” Mediazona reports.
During the concert, Shevchuk said: “Motherland, friends, this is not the president’s ass, which must be procrastinated, kissed all the time. Motherland is a beggar grandmother at the station selling potatoes.” Judge Yulia Egorova, according to the publication, mentioned her grandmother at the station, while “keeping silent” about the ass. She only added that “there are negative statements about the president.”
Lawyer Oleksandr Peredruk noted during the debate that there was no evidence of an offense by Shevchuk. In addition, according to him, the new protocol was drawn up without the singer, the Interior Ministry officials did not notify either the artist or the lawyer himself about this.
Shevchuk’s lawyers also asked the court to send a request to the Constitutional Court of Russia to verify the compliance of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses with the provisions of the Constitution, but the judge did not satisfy this request.
Peredruk promised that the court decision on the fine would be appealed.
DDT concert in Ufa was held on May 18. It was reported that the security forces “penetrated” backstage and “for an hour had a conversation with the leader of the group, his orientation and Shevchuk’s statements on the subject of war and the Motherland.” Then the police simply let him sign the protocol and left.
First, the court in St. Petersburg returned the administrative file to the police, pointing out that in the protocol they did not describe the event of the offense and “what exactly the public appeals were expressed in.” In July, the court resumed consideration of the case, and then sent it to the Sovetsky District Court of Ufa.
On July 20, Gia Kakabadze, a resident of Vladivostok, received a fine of 40,000 rubles for a poster with a quote from the leader of the DDT group, Yuri Shevchuk, “Motherland is not the president’s ass, which must be kissed all the time.”
