Canada will provide Ukraine with additional funds
Denys Shmyhal thanked the Canadian authorities and the entire Canadian people for their unwavering support for Ukraine.
Canada will provide Ukraine with 450 million Canadian dollars (about $350 million) to purchase gas for the heating season. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal in Twitter Wednesday evening, August 17th.
“Another step of solidarity from friendly Canada. Ukraine will receive 450 million Canadian dollars in assistance to purchase gas for the heating season,” he wrote.
Shmygal thanked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and the entire Canadian people for their unwavering support for Ukraine in the fight for freedom and democracy.
In July, it was reported that Ukraine would receive an additional 450 million Canadian dollars from Canada. As a result, the total amount of the loan reached 1.45 billion Canadian dollars. These funds will be directed to the state budget to ensure priority social and humanitarian payments.
The loan repayment period is 10 years, the interest rate is 1.69% per annum.
