Teaching in Russian has not been conducted at the university for a very long time. Now the ban also applies to interpersonal communication.
Within the walls of the Kiev-Mohyla Academy, it was forbidden to communicate in Russian. This norm is spelled out in the new Internal Rules, said on Friday, January 27, a member of the Supervisory Board of Mogilyanka Gennady Zubko.
He noted that teaching in Russian has not been conducted at the university for a very long time. Now the ban also applies to interpersonal communication.
“This applies to absolutely everyone: teachers, students, administrative staff. This norm is spelled out in the new Internal Regulations of NaUKMA, which were approved today at the 40th session of the Academic Conference of the University,” he said.
Zubko stressed that the decision is supported by both students and teachers.
“The war had a great impact on the work of the university. Mohyla residents joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the front line to defend Ukraine, unfortunately, there are dead heroes. The war adjusted the pace of scientific research, but the number of scientific publications, although it decreased, was not significant. The war forced many students and teachers to seek asylum abroad,” Zubko explained.
He added that the new rules set out the norms for distance learning and their digital formats, flexible forms of work schedules, time tracking, etc.
Earlier it was reported that Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov said that he would continue to communicate with Kharkiv residents in Russian.
