The report on the federal intervention in the area of public security in the Federal District, presented by the intervenor Ricardo Cappelli, this Friday (27), makes a detailed description of the coup camp that was set up for more than two months in front of the Headquarters of the Army, in Brasilia. Among the information gathered, there is the occurrence of dozens of crimes, including robberies and thefts. The camp gathered around 4,000 people at peak times, including in the days leading up to the January 8 coup acts.
“Our Police recorded 73 police incidents at the camp, in the little more than two months it was in operation. Police incidents of theft, theft. It was an environment where criminals circulated. This is proven by police incidents”.

According to Ricardo Cappelli, the structure of the site was impressive, including a kitchen, bathrooms, generators, something atypical for a conventional camp. “You had a whole structure set up, a true mini-terrorist city. There are photos that demonstrate the evolution of the setting up of this camp”, he described.
The report describes attempts by the DF police and security forces to make incursions into the camp, to curb illegal trade and demobilize, but all of them were rejected by the Army, which sheltered the terrorists throughout this period.
“All the disturbances in the DF, during that period, these elements left the camp, practiced acts and returned to the camp in the Urban Military Sector”, stated Capelli. “What happened on the 8th is the result of an escalation of events, which began right after the results of the elections, and President Lula’s victory, and which culminated on the 8th”, noted the intervenor.
The report shows that the camp has had ebbs and flows in terms of the flow of people. After Lula’s inauguration, the following days saw a strong ebb, implying that the camp would completely empty, which may have been a strategy to outwit the authorities. However, already on January 6, the camp explodes again and registers about 4 thousand people.
Still according to the survey by the federal intervenor, more than 300 vehicles that were parked in the camp and provided support to the coup leaders were mapped, showing the “geography” of the coup mobilization, and where the caravans left.
