The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes fined the messaging application Telegram in R$ 1.2 million for not complying with the order to block the channel of the elected federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG).
The suspension of the parliamentarian’s account was determined on January 13, under a daily fine of R$ 100,000 in case of non-compliance.
“The social network, by failing to comply with the court order, directly questions the authority of the court decision taken within the scope of a criminal investigation, understanding the right to assess its legality and the obligation to comply with it”, says Moraes in the decision. .

PF to investigate suspected genocide against Yanomami
The Federal Police (PF) launched a police investigation, by order of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, to investigate the alleged crimes of genocide, omission of help and environmental damage against the people of the Yanomami Indigenous Land, which is located between Roraima and Amazonas.
According to Minister of Justice Flávio Dino, the investigation by the Regional Superintendence of the PF, in Roraima, will primarily focus on former president Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) incentives for illegal mining in the region and the abandonment of health care for indigenous people.

“In view of the political incentive for illegal mining in indigenous lands, the abandonment regarding the availability of health actions and services, as well as the absence of strategies to guarantee the military security of the Yanomami (…), I order this Federal Police to establish investigation procedure for committing, in theory, the crimes of genocide, omission of assistance, and environmental crimes (…), in addition to other crimes to be investigated by the police authority”, says the letter from the folder to the PF.

The document highlights that the situation of the indigenous people was known to the federal government, which preferred not to act in the face of the health crisis in the area. “The humanitarian crisis was not unknown to the previous federal administration, since indigenous leaders such as Dario Kopenawa Yanomami, from the Hutukara Associação Yanomami, came to Brasilia to expose the situation and ask for the removal of miners”, highlights the letter.
“The repeated requests for help against the violence resulting from illegal mining, as well as the lack of effective actions and health services available to the Yanomami, highlight a possible intention to cause serious damage to the integrity or even cause the extinction of the aforementioned original group”, says the text.
TCU will audit funds sent to indigenous peoples
The president of the Federal Audit Court (TCU), Minister Bruno Dantas, ordered the General Secretariat for External Control to audit public investments made by the federal government for indigenous people, mainly the Yanomami Indigenous Land, which is suffering a severe health crisis.
Dantas followed up on a suggestion made in November 2021 by Minister Vital do Rêgo for the TCU to investigate investments made with indigenous people. According to Bruno Dantas, the situation was already “worrying” and “became even more urgent”.
“The resources committed to indigenous health in 2021 reached the amount of R$ 1.55 billion, with R$ 1.43 billion being paid, very expressive amounts, indicative of the materiality of the policy”, wrote Bruno Dantas in a document.

Police indict man who threatened Lula’s lawyer
The Civil Police of the Federal District indicted businessman Luiz Carlos Bassetto Júnior for threatening, insulting and inciting crime, with sentences of up to one year and six months in prison. He offended and threatened Lula’s lawyer, Cristiano Zanin, at Brasilia International Airport in early January.
Bassetto is also investigated for the criminal acts of January 8, when Bolsonarists invaded and destroyed the headquarters of the Three Powers. Resident in São Paulo, the Federal Police are trying to understand what the businessman was doing in the Federal District on January 11, three days after the criminal acts.

At the time, Bassetto Junior approached Zanin as the lawyer was brushing his teeth. With the cell phone in hand and recording the action itself, the businessman said: “Look, here it is, from my side, look. How can a guy corrupt himself so much, look. Oh what a bum here, oh. Hey, bastard! Look at the camera here. Say goodbye, oh, bastard. I want to put my hand in the ear of a guy like that”.
“Look! Oh here, oh, bastard. Aren’t you ashamed? You’re ashamed of your country, bastard. How do you walk down the street like that, look? Look over here, bastard! I had to take a dick from everyone walking on the street. Safado!”, also said the aggressor.
