President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated his new colleague
Retired General Petr Pavel won the Czech presidential election with 58.3% of the vote.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the new President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, with a convincing victory in the elections and expressed his hope for continued cooperation.
“I appreciate your support for Ukraine and our fight against Russian aggression. I will be glad to have close personal cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and the Czech Republic and in the interests of a united Europe,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.
Retired General Petr Pavel won the Czech presidential election with 58.3% of the vote.
Petr Pavel previously served as head of the NATO Military Committee, and since 2018 Pavel has been retired.
The new president of the Czech Republic is a supporter of maximum military assistance to Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic congratulated Pavel when 90% of the votes were counted and it became clear who was winning the elections.
Voting in the Czech Republic lasted two days – January 27 and 28.
