Attack on an Iranian arms factory
The US and Israel are looking for new ways to curb Tehran’s nuclear and military ambitions.
Israel has carried out a covert drone strike on a defense complex in Iran as the US and Israel seek new ways to curb Tehran’s nuclear and military ambitions, US officials and people familiar with the operation told The Wall Street Journal.
Iranian officials said Tehran prevented an attempted attack by three small quadcopters on a munitions factory in the city of Isfahan, located next to a facility owned by the Iranian Space Research Center, which was sanctioned by the US for its work on Iran’s ballistic missile program.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian called the explosions a cowardly blow.
“Such actions cannot affect the determination and intention of our experts regarding peaceful nuclear progress,” he said.
In turn, the Israeli military declined to comment, the WSJ notes.
