The Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP) will publish, this Monday (30), the result of a survey with members of the public security forces on their perception of the coup acts of January 8. On his social networks, the president of the body, Renato Sérgio de Lima, advanced one of the results.
According to the researcher, 40% of public security agents completely agree “that the invaders’ guidelines were legitimate”. “The survey shows how serious the situation is and that we should act to lay the foundations for a new institutional architecture for public security. It will not help to think of each police officer in isolation”, said Lima on his Twitter profile.
In the interview with agents of the public security forces, the FBSP asked whether the depredation of the headquarters of the Palácio do Planalto, National Congress and Superior Federal Court (STF), promoted by Bolsonaristas, is considered reprehensible, but with legitimate motivation. The statement was fully approved by 19.4% of the police officers and partially by 20.5%.
Still according to the FBSP survey, 62.1% of the agents totally or partially agree with the punishment of the police officers who facilitated the action of the scammers; 17.3% strongly disagree with the sanction. The survey also shows that 55.7% understand that there was an omission by local policing and 72% agree that the failure was due to planning and command.
The FBSP survey shows that 58.9% of those interviewed agree that the conduct of the security line police officers was inadequate to impede the advance of Bolsonaristas; for 61.7%, it was the fault of the Army command, which delayed the decision to remove the camps of the coup leaders in Brasília.
