In the next few months, Ukraine will set the conditions for a possible liberation of Crimea.
The next big battlefield that will decide the outcome of the war in Ukraine could be Crimea. This was stated by the former commander of the US Army in Europe, retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges in an interview with Insider.
He noted that Ukraine will never be safe and will not be able to restore its economy as long as Russia retains control over Crimea.
“The decisive territory for this war is Crimea. The Ukrainian government knows that it cannot accept Russia to retain control of Crimea,” Hodges said.
According to him, in the next few months, Ukraine will set the conditions for the possible liberation of the peninsula.
At the same time, Hodges noted that the Ukrainian army needs to receive tanks and long-range high-precision strike weapons from the allies in order to drive Russian troops out of Crimea.
Earlier, the media reported that the invaders began to dig trenches around the Belbek airfield in Crimea.
