The Minister of Human Rights, Silvio Almeida, asked the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, for the permanent presence of the security forces in the Yanomami Indigenous Land, located between the states of Roraima and Amazonas. He also requested the presence of the National Force to assist the work of the Federal Police (PF), which will carry out raids in the region in the coming days.
In the letter sent to the Ministry of Justice, Almeida stated that the presence of the federal forces is important to guarantee the safety and integrity of the leaders and those who are working in the area, such as the health teams.

“At the time, several leaders mentioned that the risk situation to which they are subject is public knowledge, including by state security authorities, without any concrete measures having been taken to ensure their protection and that of their communities”, said the minister.
“There were also reports that gold miners have been threatening health teams that travel to distribute medication and rescue sick people, making it difficult or even preventing the adoption of emergency health measures.”
The action takes place in the midst of publicizing the situation of abandonment that the Yanomami Indigenous Land, between Roraima and Amazonas, is experiencing. According to the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, 99 children of the Yanomami people between one and four years old died in 2022 due to the impacts of the advance of illegal mining in the region, such as malnutrition, pneumonia and diarrhea.
On January 20, the Ministry of Health declared a state of emergency to “plan, organize, coordinate and control the measures to be used” in order to reverse the situation of lack of assistance installed in the Yanomami TI.
Federal intervention in the Public Security of the DF comes to an end
This Tuesday (31) ends the federal intervention in the Public Security of the Federal District, determined by the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), still during the criminal acts committed by Bolsonaristas in the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília, on 8 of January.
The intervenor appointed by the Lula government, Ricardo Cappelli, stated that the mission was “completely accomplished”, in an interview with metropolises.

In addition to the intervention, the governor of the DF Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) was also removed by determination of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes for 90 days. Thus, Ibaneis remains out of office at least until April.
Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the PL, is denounced to the PGR
The national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, was denounced by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the Electoral Attorney General’s Office (PGE) after saying that there are proposals for coup decrees “in everyone’s house”, during an interview with newspaper The globe. The complaints were signed by the Prerogativas group, made up of lawyers, jurists and defenders.
“That proposal that was in the Minister of Justice’s house, that was in everyone’s house”, said Valdemar, adding that Bolsonaro “did not want to do anything outside the law”. He was denounced for crimes against the democratic rule of law.
At the beginning of the month, the PF found a draft of a coup decree in the house of former Minister of Justice and former Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District Anderson Torres. The document authorized Bolsonaro to declare a state of defense at the TSE headquarters to reverse the result of last year’s presidential election.

The president of the PL also stated, during the same interview, that he destroyed the draft. Therefore, Valdemar da Costa Neto was also the subject of a request made to the STF by the leader of the PT in the Senate, Fabiano Contarato (ES), to include him in the fake news investigation.
For the Prerogativas group, “the participation of a party association, through its president, in such criminal events shows a direct violation of the constitutional bases in relation to political parties, as well as proves the creation of an organizational engendering that had several stages immoral and unlawful”.
“It is emphasized that the facts narrated in the interview show the participation of several public agents and lawyers in the elaboration and analysis of the coup documents.”
OAB wants businessman to indemnify Lula’s lawyer in R$ 150,000 for attacking him at the airport
The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) will file a lawsuit against businessman Luiz Carlos Basseto Júnior, according to the newspaper’s investigation Folha de S. Paulo.
He was indicted for threatening, insulting and inciting crime after verbally attacking Cristiano Zanin Martins, Lula’s lawyer, at Brasília International Airport in early January.

Bolsonaro says his project is “immorrable”
During his online participation in a dinner promoted by ex-minister Walter Braga Netto with PL politicians yesterday, Jair Bolsonaro stated that his project is “immorrable”. The speech was revealed in an audio released by CNN Brasil.
He also declared his support for former minister Rogério Marinho, candidate for the presidency of the Senate. “Good luck to all of you and, if Marinho is around, a hug from Marinho.
