Attendance in shopping centers in Kyiv has decreased from 506 people per 1000 sq. m GLA at the beginning of 2022 to 362 people at the beginning of 2023, the press service of the Ukrainian Trade Guild told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to the head of UTG Evgenia Loktionova, the biggest drop was noted at the beginning of the war, according to the results of the first quarter, attendance fell to a historic low of 291 people.
“The displacement of enemy troops from the territory of the Kyiv region returned the population to the capital, led to the opening of retail real estate, and attendance gradually began to recover, reaching 362 people by the beginning of 2023,” Loktionova said.
The expert noted that district-format shopping centers, which include a smaller number of international large-format department stores (Inditex, M&S, GAP, IKEA), demonstrate greater stability in attendance (496 people at the beginning of 2023) relative to regional (274 people) objects.
