The US Federal Bureau of Investigation is raiding US President Joe Biden’s beach home in Delaware over classified documents. This is reported by NBC and CNN, citing his lawyer.
“Today, with the full support and cooperation of the President, the Department of Justice is conducting a routine search of his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware,” the lawyer said.
He explained that this is standard procedure, but that the Justice Department has decided not to announce it publicly “in the interests of operational security.” Biden’s lawyer did not provide other details.
On January 20, the FBI already conducted a search of Biden’s home in Washington. It took about 13 hours. According to CNN, citing Biden’s lawyer, FBI officers found six secret documents in the president’s house that relate to the period of Biden’s work in the Senate and as vice president of the United States, when Barack Obama was president. The President of the United States was not present during the search.
At the beginning of the month, the American media twice reported on the found secret documents from Biden – in his personal office at the Penn-Biden think tank Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington and in the garage of his house in Wilmington. According to the law, the head of state had to transfer documents for storage to the National Archives.
The U.S. Department of Justice appointed a special prosecutor to investigate possible wrongdoing related to the Biden documents. The US Department of Justice is now examining the recovered documents to determine their level of secrecy and whether they are still classified.
