This Wednesday morning (1st), the former manager of Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, Ricardo Wagner de Almeida, was arrested in an operation by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro that investigates a financial pyramid scheme. According to investigations, the scheme injured dozens of people and imposed a loss of millions of reais.
Almeida, who was president of the Fiscal Council of Alvinegro, was arrested in Piratininga, in the oceanic region of Niterói. According to information from the portal G1he owned Futura Invest, which offered investments in cryptocurrencies and the stock exchange.

According to the police, in the first months, the victims received the promised percentages, but in the medium term the installments were no longer paid, characterizing the financial pyramid scam.
In addition to arresting Almeida, the agents also executed 11 search and seizure warrants. According to investigations, the victims were mostly civil and military public servants.
