SBU exposes large-scale schemes for “covering” prostitution
High-ranking officials have set up large-scale schemes to protect prostitution in Kyiv and other regions of the country. Monthly “incomes” of the organizers of illegal business amounted to more than 50 million hryvnia.
The SBU exposed the leadership of the Migration Police Department on large-scale schemes for “covering” prostitution. This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
“High-ranking officials have set up large-scale schemes to “protect” prostitution in Kyiv and other regions of the country. The monthly “income” of the organizers of illegal business amounted to more than UAH 50 million. As a result of investigative and operational actions, SBU officers detained the deputy head of the migration police department, police and twelve other members of the group,” the statement said.
According to the investigation, officials covered up the activities of an extensive network of places of debauchery in Kyiv.
“Girls from 18 to 30 years old with a vulnerable psycho-emotional state were selected to such “institutions”. In addition, they created a network of specialized groups in instant messengers, in which administrators looked for citizens to provide intimate services for money, including for escort. Pimps offered them trips to clients in different regions of Ukraine, and also sent them abroad. The cost of “services” ranged from 500 to 10 thousand dollars per night, “the press service of the SBU reports.
The SBU conducted more than 30 searches at the addresses of the defendants, including in the administrative buildings of the National Police of Ukraine. More than 20 people have been notified of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Art. 255 (creation, management of a criminal community or criminal organization); Art. 302 (creating or maintaining places of debauchery); Art. 303 (pimping or engaging a person in prostitution).
An investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all persons involved in the activities of a criminal group, the SBU notes.
Earlier it was reported that pimps-recruiters were detained in Kyiv.
