Joint consultations between the government of Ukraine and the European Commission began in Kyiv
The EU also invites Ukraine to its energy platform to buy liquefied natural gas together.
The EU authorities decided to provide Ukraine with an additional 2,400 generators, and also invited the country to become a member of the pan-European energy platform. This was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at a joint briefing with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Thursday, February 2.
“We are also supporting the Ukrainian electricity grid and making sure that electricity comes through despite all the attacks… Today I can say that we are providing 2,400 additional generators to the previous 3,000 that have come in since the beginning of the war,” said von der Leyen.
She noted that the European Union invites Ukraine to its energy platform in order to buy gas (LNG – ed.) together.
Ursula von der Leyen also stressed that the European Union is exploring an initiative “to provide solar panels to be installed on the roofs of public buildings to provide them with electricity.”
In addition to the fact that the EU will provide 45 million LED lamps instead of the previously announced 30 million.
Earlier it was reported that Sweden provided Ukraine with 570 tons of power equipment. These are generators, power transformers, energy storage devices, lighting towers.
