Zelensky responded to the petition
The head of state noted that there are no relevant instruments in the legislation, but instructed the head of parliament to work out proposals from the petition.
President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a petition to strip the mandates of deputies of the former Opposition Platform for Life. The petition received more than 37,000 votes in less than a month, while the required 25,000. Zelensky’s response was published on the website of the Internet representation of the President of Ukraine.
Thus, the head of state noted that he had addressed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk with a request to work out the proposals set out in the electronic petition and inform the author of the appeal about the results of consideration.
In his response to the petition, Zelensky also emphasized that there are no tools in the legislation of Ukraine that would allow deputies to be immediately and urgently deprived of their mandates.
Any draft laws are prepared in advance by the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada on the proposals of committees, temporary special commissions and temporary commissions of inquiry, taking into account the proposals of deputy factions (deputy groups) in accordance with the approved procedure for the daytime session of the Verkhovna Rada and submitted to the Conciliation Council.
Recall that last week the media reported that MPs from the banned in Ukraine party Opposition Platform for Life Natalia Korolevskaya and her husband Yuriy Solod wrote applications for the resignation of the mandates of MPs. On the same day, it became known that people’s deputy Oleg Voloshin, who was a member of the former faction of the Opposition Platform for Life, also wrote a letter of resignation.
