Notre Dame to reopen in 2024 after massive fire
A large-scale fire in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris occurred in April 2019. Then the building of the cathedral was badly damaged.
Notre Dame Cathedral is scheduled to open to the public in 2024. However, this will not happen before the Olympic Games in Paris. On Friday, February 3, reports France24.
It is also known that by the end of 2023 it is planned to return the spire of the cathedral. It was made from the same source materials: 500 tons of oak wood for the structure and 250 tons of lead for the covering and decorations.
At the same time, according to experts, the entire reconstruction will be completed no earlier than December 2024.
Authorities have previously cited December 8, 2024 – the feast of the Immaculate Conception – as a likely deadline.
Earlier, French Minister of Culture Rima Abdul-Malak announced plans to open Notre Dame Cathedral for worship and visits in 2024. According to her, restoration work is progressing rapidly, in accordance with the schedule.
